How it all started
Around 2016, my closest friends was diagnosed with HPV and at that time I heard the first time about HPV. She was devastated and I set myself out on the course of finding information how to get rid of it. Which lead us to the discovery that to this date there is no cure and there is only hope that body’s immune system will take care of it on its own.
Through the investigations is when I discovered Active Hexose Correlated Compound food supplement. Prices are nowhere close to the reasonable. Yet, there are so many studies about AHCC that show the positive effects it can have to our immune system. My friend ended up paying around $600 for 3 months of AHCC usage and had 3 more to go.
Which gave me an idea. I have been interested in food supplement industry and healthy eating for many years. Why not take this as a learning experience and see what it actually would mean to build a company and sell supplements on your own. I ended up investing in a factory contract with more than $5000 to receive the initial patch of product.
The journey has not been easy but there have been many great successes on the way. My friend has been cleared of HPV with the supplement I own – which is awesome. I have also received many positive emails on the way.
Where we are today
Today we are using a professional plastic bottle (PET). Which is specially designed for food supplements. It is sealed with a magnetic foil and the shelf life is approximately 2 years.
In the beginning of 2018, we also expanded our product line. But the business is not that easy. Selling cheaper supplements abroad is next to impossible because the shipping costs are the same as the product itself. Which is why we often have campaigns on the website where we will offer other supplements together with AHCC.
We are also using a warehouse service (Pack point) from the beginning of 2018 – they help us ship and pack all the products asap. But unfortunately, Estonia does not have that great infrastructure when it comes to sending packages outside of Baltic countries. Shipping times are long and some customers do find it annoying.
Where we are headed
In 2019, we are planning to branch out the business with a bigger emphasis on Europe market. There are many great mushroom products out there to be sold which unfortunately are not reasonable to sell to US. We will definitely keep AHCC part of our product line globally for next 2 years because it can help a lot of people. But it is not impossible that we might discontinue selling it when we have a greater foothold in Baltic countries.
